Jerry Don Wood, 74, of Caddo Mills passed away on Friday, February
5, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Funeral services are
scheduled on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 P.M., at Caddo Mills High School
Gym with Rev. Larry Combs officiating. Visitation will be on February 21,
2021 starting at 12:00 P.M. to service time. Burial will follow the
service at Caddo Mills IOOF Cemetery. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.
Jerry was born on September 10, 1946 to John Thomas (Jack) Wood
and Ethel Lee Bowen in the Paradise community in Hunt County Texas. Jerry
married the love of his life Kathy Hays on November 22, 1969 in the Paradise
Baptist church. Jerry was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country proudly
in the United States Army. After his time in the service, he owned a
diesel delivery business, worked at the Caddo Mills Cotton Gin and spent most
of his life farming and ranching. Jerry and his family have dedicated their
lives building the 5W Farm Red Brahman Ranch.
Jerry was a life-long member of the Caddo Mills Fire Dept, member
and director for the American Brahman Breeders Association, board member and
director for the Hunt County Fair, member of the Caddo Mills Masonic Lodge, and
a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Caddo Mills, son
Donnie Wood of Wills Point, daughter Anisa Gronewald & husband Kyle of
Greenville, daughter Angela Penick & husband Kevin of Rapid City, South
Dakota, mother-in-law Maxine Hays Clopton, sister-in-law Nancy Schmidt, sister
JoNell Oliver & husband James, sister-in-law Donna Wood, grandchildren D.J.
Wood, Laci Wood, Dylan Schwartz, Tyler Schwartz, Sarah Brinkley & husband
Matt, great granddaughter Whitney, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry Wood and
Bobby Wood, sisters Patsy Morgan, Peggy Wright and brother-in law Joe Wright.
Pallbearers
will be the Caddo Mills Fire Department.
Honorary
Pallbearers will be Brady Williams, Craig Flanagan, Richard Kent, Alton
"Boise" Weatherly, Ken Ramsey and Reggie Rodriguez.
