Dorothy Sue Pemberton, age 72 of Greenville, Texas passed
away peacefully on October 6, 2019.
“Dottie” as most would call her was born to Bill and Rosemary Pemberton
on February 20, 1947 in Commerce, Texas.
Dottie attended local Greenville Schools and graduated from
Greenville High School in 1965. She also
attended East Texas State University, which later became Texas A&M
University of Commerce, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and
French. She continued her studies at
ETSU earning a Master’s Degree in Audio Visual Communications.
She was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and
came to know the Lord at a very young age.
Growing up with two younger sisters, Dottie learned very early in life
that she liked to be a leader, which led her to a career in teaching. Dottie loved her job and her students. Never having any children of her own, Dottie
often referred to her students as her very own children. After teaching at Greenville Jr. High and
Greenville High School for over twenty years, she retired from the G.I.S.D. in
1997. She was also a lifetime member of
Dottie was a passionate animal lover. She spent much of her retirement time caring
for abused and neglected animals.
She is survived by her two sisters, Sharon George and
husband, Mike of Advance, North Carolina and Marylea Moore of Arlington, Texas,
along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 2,
2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Memoryland Memorial Park with Mr. Randy Tarpley
officiating. In Lieu of flowers,
