Ruth Pilgreen Baker, 87, passed away peacefully at
Briarcliff Health Center of Greenville on December 18, 2018.
Ruth was born October 29, 1931 near Marion, La. She would
proudly let you know that she was the 16th and youngest child born
to Thomas Jefferson Pilgreen and Hettie Elizabeth Reppond Pilgreen.
She was educated at a small country school with an
incredible history and a tight knit community, Linville High School. Ruth married Roy Baker May 30, 1953 and was a
dedicated and supportive wife, mother and homemaker. She also ran the family owned store, All That
Jazz, in the Uptown Forum from 1980-2010.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents and
many brothers and sisters. She is
survived by her sister Ida Belle Albritton of Marion, La., daughters, Bonita
Malone and husband Myron of Greenville, TX, Lori Roper and husband Wayne of
Greenville, SC, Jan Baker and Christopher Steidle of Irving, TX, Grandchildren
Evan Roper, Lena Roper, Caroline Roper and Eric Roper, Lisa Malone Brown and
husband Bryan, Monica Malone and Phillip Malone, numerous special nieces,
nephews and cousins and two very special friends and caregivers, Bennie Whytus
and Christina Ory.
Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 5-7 pm at Coker Matthews. Services will be held Graveside at Memoryland
Memorial Park in Greenville on Saturday, December 22, 10 a.m.
