Kenneth Ray Caplinger, 87, passed
away at home in Celeste on Nov. 12, 2018.
Mr. Caplinger was born, in Celeste, Tx., November 17, 1930,
he was the son of Bryan and Connie (Kennedy) Caplinger. He married Frances West
on April 16, 1983 in Wylie, Texas.
Kenneth was most proud of his
family, and his 20 plus year career in the United States Navy
Seabees, from which he retired in
1971. His tours of duty included Africa, Bermuda, Cuba,
Antartica, South Pole, and
VietNam (2 tours with NMCB “The Great 58”). He was past
Commander of the VFW Post 4011Greenville,
as well as a member of the American Legion,
Elks, and Disabled
AmericanVeterans. His medals include Navy Occupational Service Medal,
Navy Unit Commendation Citation, 3 national Defense Medals,
Viet Nam Service Medal with Fleet INS,
Marine Force Combat w/insignia, VietNam Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct
He is survived by his wife
Frances; daughters Connie Nelson (Rick), Shelley Callanan; sons
Barry Banks, Monty Banks (Susie); sister Shirley Dennis
(Clyde), grandchildren Chanel (Ses), B.J., Daniel (Brittany), Richard (Ashley),
Becca, Cory, John, Faith; great grandchildren, Kolin, Sara, Ezra, Hailey,
Gabby, and Blayklee, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, children Kenny,
RayeAnne and Ricky, and siblings Pauline Bolding, Jeannie Sprinkle, Lorene
Walker, Carol Caplinger and son-in-law, Robert Callanan.
A special thank you to his caretakers Dr. Gamboa and staff,
and the nurses and aides of Healing Touch Homecare.
Funeral Services will be held at
10:00 a.m. Friday November 16, 2018 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Tx.
Interment will follow at Celeste Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening
from 6 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.
