Juanita Ruth Andrews Voss went
home to be with her Father on October 11, 2014 in McKinney, Texas.
A celebration of her life is
scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday with visitation at 1:00 pm, at the Johnston
Street Church of Christ in Greenville, Texas under the direction of Coker-Mathews
Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
She was born January 16, 1916 to
Conley Joseph and Eva Lena Ruth Andrews in Celeste, Texas. She attended schools in Wolfe City and South
Sulphur and Business College in Houston, Texas.
She was married to Gilbert Newell Voss of Sulphur Springs, Texas in
1935. They celebrated their 70th
anniversary in 2005. She spent many
years in different places traveling with her husband who was in the Air
Force. After 20 years he retired from
the service, and they moved to Greenville and built their home there in 1954.
She taught Bible classes many
years at Johnson Street Church of Christ where she was the church secretary for
31 years. Her hobbies were baking
cookies and piecing quilts. She liked
gardening and did a lot of canning. She spent
many years in charge of can goods at the Hunt County Fair. She was a member of Home Education and
Extension Club for 30 years.
She is survived by her son James
Newell Voss and his wife Johnetta of Fairview, Texas, her two grandsons and
their wives: Bradley and Shannon Voss, and Ashley and Ruth Ann Voss; and six
great-grandchildren: Phoebe, Judson, Karis, Kamalyn, Arianna, and Kodah; her
brother and sister-in-law Conley and Joyce Andrews and several nieces and
Preceding her in death were her
parents Conley and Eva Andrews, her husband Gilbert Voss (“The Handle Man”),
her daughter-in-law Darlene Voss and her sister Hazel Turner and husband
