Bettie Isham Kennedy passed away on March 15, 2023, in Sherman, Texas. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 20, 2023, at Brigham Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Dwight King officiating.
Bettie was born in Campbell, Texas to Myrtie Rachel Gilbreath Isham and Flemon Osborne Isham. Bettie retired from United Telephone Company where she was Manager of Commerce/Cooper Exchanges before retiring after 29 years of service. Bettie worked as a secretary for Dr. Henry Harris and Robert Peek Financial Services before starting to work at East Texas State University (Texas A&M University-Commerce) for 4 ½ years. Bettie retired from Texas A&M University-Commerce after 30 years of service. Bettie was best friends with Preston Speight for 29 years who passed away on February 18, 2010. Bettie belonged to the Methodist Church and was a member of the Pioneer Telephone Association and she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Bettie is survived by daughter Tina Kennedy and fiancé James Crouch of Commerce, granddaughter Tiffany Moreland of Sherman, brother-in-law Danny Speight and wife Jennifer, special step niece Lorrye Speight, several other special relatives, niece Linda Swinney and nephew Mendell Holley, in laws and friends.
Bettie is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Bill Kennedy on December 1, 2021; son, Eric Kennedy in 1979; seven brothers and six sisters.
Pallbearers will be James Crouch, Danny Speight, Roy Caldwell, Joseph Dawson and Gary Jones.
