A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emory United Methodist Church. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements.
Connie was born August 17, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Eugene Dewitt Hall and Lorena Hall. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1947 and North Texas State College, now The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas in 1951. Following her education, she worked for Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas, and among other things, she was responsible for designing storefront window displays. From 1955 through 1962, Connie taught art at Victor H. Hexter Elementary School in Dallas.
On November 18, 1961, Connie married Ivan Alexander, Jr. in Dallas Texas. They lived in Dallas for a short period before moving to Emory, then Greenville for many years, and eventually back to Emory. She had three childrenâ€"Lisa Alexandria Mitchell, George Ivan Alexander, and Philip Dewitt Alexanderâ€"and five grandchildrenâ€"Lauren Alexander-Bachelder, Abbie Duncan, Katie Duncan, Blake Alexander, and George Ivan Alexander Jr.
Connie was a wonderful artist during her long life, and her friends and family cherish her vibrant and beautiful paintings. Her home is full of her art and other works of art gifted to her by dear friends. She took art classes throughout the late 70s and early 80s at East Texas State in Commerce and loved her fellow students and professors.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Liz Cowles, and her husband Ivan. She is survived by her sister Billie Hall of Wichita Falls, Texas, her three children, and her five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Rains High School art class in memory of Connie.
