Larry Michael Middlebrooks, 78, was called to his eternal home on October 16, 2022. Funeral services will be at Family Fellowship of Greenville on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Rick Blue and Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt Zion Cemetery on Hwy 11 east of Commerce. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Larry was born to Berna Middlebrooks and Rosia Pickard Middlebrooks on July 20, 1944, in Commerce, Texas. He married Linda Williams on April 24, 1976, in Commerce. They shared 46 wonderful years together.

Larry worked for Rockwell Intl for the first 20 years of his career and then became a car salesman, his passion, for the next 20 years. He loved meeting people and was really good at his job. He then went on to serve Hunt County as a Commissioner.

Larry spent most of his life serving others. He was a school board member and a volunteer firefighter in his early adult years in Ladonia. He was also a firefighter for the City of Commerce, head chaplain for the Hunt County Jail system for 10 years and President of the Greenville Kiwanis Club for one term. He has been a member of Family Fellowship for 32 years where he served as a deacon for two terms. Larry was over the greeter program for 20+ yrs and worked in children's Sunday school classes for many years. He loved kids and was always handing out dollar bills to little ones he would meet in stores. He volunteered at Hands of Compassion until his health begin to fail. Larry loved the Lord and loved people and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed the mission trips he took over the years because he loved helping others. His wonderful sense of humor and love for his family will be missed forever.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, son, Ronald Keith Smith and wife Gina of Sulphur Springs, daughters, Tammy Lynn Smith of Garland and Cynthia Denise Derrick of Cooper, sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tommy Carroll of Bossier City, La., three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Williams, Randy Williams, Tim Ellsworth, Parker Blue, Luke Johnson and Dave Sundeen. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Chandler, Jim Myers, Charles Waller, Bobby Manley, James Forbes and Dean Harrison.

His family would like to thank all of the wonderful employees at Greenville Gardens for their love and care for Larry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Eli and Dola Middlebrooks, Pless and Lizzie Pickard and sister and brother-in-law, Berna Rose and Delbert Day.
