David Gerard Koenig

Dave Koenig, 57, passed away 10/09/22, at his home surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel on October 15, 2022, at 10:00 am with Jeremy Anderson officiating.

David Gerard Koenig was born in Washington, Missouri, on February 10, 1965, to George L. and Barbara A. (Weiser) Koenig. He married Leslie Anne (Anderson) Blanchard on March 30, 2022, in Greenville, TX.

Dave grew up in Hermann, Missouri, and attended school at St. George Catholic School and was a graduate of Hermann High School. After graduation, he moved to Texas. He had been a resident of Hunt County, TX since 1992.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Leslie Koenig; children, Valerie Koenig (Sheboygan, WI), Harley Blanchard and Devin Pickett (Greenville, TX), Linse and Laci "Morden" Koenig (Greenville, TX); grandson, Eli Koenig (Sheboygan, WI); and granddaughter-on-the-way, Allison Grace Pickett; sisters, Annette Bellmore (Seagoville, TX), Cheryl Temme and Ray (Union, MO); brother, Mark Koenig and Marilyn (Washington, MO); sisters-in-law, Cindy Koenig (Hermann, MO), and Angela Grimes (Como, TX); brothers-in-law, Jeremy Anderson and Tammy (Cooper, TX), Steven Braden (Sulphur Springs, TX); mothers-in-law, Barbara Miles (Cooper, TX) and Margaret Anderson (Como, TX); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Koenig; and father-in-law, Gary Anderson.

Dave will be remembered as a loving husband and father with the best bear hugs, chicken quesadillas, and the greatest one-liner comebacks of all time. In his words, "I've lived, loved, and laughed a lot. And for a little while, I even got to be a rock star. How many people can say that? It's been a good life.
