Ammie Melrose O'Pry Carter

Ammie Melrose O’Pry Carter, 93, of Lone Oak, formerly of White Rock, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, in Greencrest Manor.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Kenny Stone officiating.  Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.  Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

 

Mrs. Carter was born January 26, 1917 in the White Rock community of Hunt County.  She was the daughter of Robert Lee O’Pry and Ola Lee Shanks O’Pry.  On June 20, 1936, she married Ervin Ralph Carter in Leonard.  She was retired from a sewing factory and a Baptist. 

 

Survivors include daughters, Arlene Stokes and husband Robert of Lone Oak and Helen Benton and husband Murry of Greenville; son, Marshall Carter and wife Shirley of Denison; Grandchildren, Charlotte Dundas and husband Terry, Thresa Murphey, Randy Benton, Allan Stokes and wife Marsha, Angie Powell and husband Rusty, David Carter and James Carter; eleven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by he husband, Ervin Ralph Carter in 1980, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

 

Pallbearers will be James Carter, David Carter, Cody Murphey, Colton Murphey, Allan Stokes, and Randy Benton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Benton, Chase Stokes, Terry Dundas, Rusty Powell, Clint Unruh and Brady Powell.
