Raymond Ray Smith, 88, of Quinlan, formerly of Rule, Texas, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Country View Manor Nursing Home in Terrell, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Trinity Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas, under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Sellers officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, Rule, Texas.
Mr. Smith was born in Dickens County, Texas, June 15, 1921. He was the son of William Eugene Smith and Flora Ann Skains Smith. On September 14, 1946, he married Earlene Bush in Swenson, Texas. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Haskell and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a farmer and custom combiner.
Mr. Smith is survived by sons, Raymond Lee Smith of Fort Worth and Earl Ray Smith of Quinlan; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 7, 2003, two brothers and one sister.
