Charles W. Simmons, 82, of Dallas, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at The Meadows Health and Rehab in Dallas. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at East Mount Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Simmons was born March 5, 1927, in Billy Goat Mountain, South Carolina. He was the son of John and Beatrice Simmons. On December 25, 1948, he married Geneva Kathleen Smith in Greenville. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge.
He is survived by a friend, Teresa Nix of Dallas; brother-in-law, Billy Boyd Smith of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Rita Sue Smith of Greenville and Nancy Ann McCartney of Baytown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Simmons on October 16, 2001; his parents; and a sister, Bertha.
