Mattie Lou Phillips, 86, of Greenville, was called home by her heavenly father on February 6, 2010.  She was born on August 13, 1923, in Lone Oak, Texas to Charlie Shepherd and Katie Lou Bowman Shepherd.  She was employed with Shirey and Company for more than 25 years.  On July 7, 1965, she married Basiel Phillips.  They were married for 41 wonderful years.

She was a faithful member and deaconess of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Greenville.  Hers was a life of selfless grace that brought love and compassion to all those with whom she came in contact.  Her beautiful smile will be etched on our hearts forever. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; sister, Maxine McCorkle; and brothers Charlie Ray Shepherd and George W. Shepherd.

She is survived by sisters, Mary Jo Weatherly of Greenville and Barbara Jeanell Green and husband, Clyde of Mesquite; sister-in-law, Betty Shepherd of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews, who loved their Aunt Mattie very much, as well as many close friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in Coker-Mathews Chapel with Pastor Allan Priest officiating.  Interment will be in Wieland Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Gregory C. Green, Mike McAnally, Wesley Shepherd, Fred McCorkle, Euvell Grubbs and Jeffrey Arnwine.
